WOW… just WOW! We were over the moon when given the opportunity to add this handsomely spotted harlequin boy, Howling Hill’s Conspicuous, aka Spike, to our herd sire line up. No doubt, Spike is striking in color, but take a look at his fleece traits and genetic potential for reproducing, because truly, that is what a breeding pairing is all about! Spike’s Harlequin Appaloosa gene can be traced back to Legend Maker and Black Epic, two of the most prolific Harlequin Appaloosa producers in the US. His sire is none other than Red Granite’s Man of Mystery (formerly known as Pinktus), who now resides at Willow Wind Alpaca Farm in Westcliffe, CO. Man of Mystery is a beautiful representation of a harlequin, and at 127.2 follicles/ square mm in density, he is the densest alpaca biopsied by Ian Watt in the US…and to quote Ian Watt, “Overall, this is the best alpaca I have tested in the US.” To add more to the table, Spike’s dam, ELK Matrix Haley is a Snowmass Matrix daughter, adding more powerhouse genetics and uniformity. Illinialpaca Morpheus is a handsome, easy going male with strong Appaloosa and Harlequin genetics on both his dam’s and sire’s side. Both Morph’s sire and dam are considered calico harlequins and both are from extraordinarily rare lines. His dam is the daughter of Vintage Peruvian Confetti. Morph’s sire, Shasta Springs Kodachrome, aka Shasta, is from an unknown line of harlequin appaloosas. Shasta’s dam, Tilama-Chapuco was a direct Chilean import. We can’t wait to see what Morph will produce for us!

MTAR Baptiste by Man of Mystery is a handsome platinum harlequin. His fleece is a lavender gray with very subtle spots, just like his sire. He is well grown with a good substance of bone, is conformationally correct, has a beautiful fleece and great genetics! Baptiste’s sire is the one and only, Red Granite’s Man of Mystery (Pinktus), who now resides at Willow Wind Alpaca Farm in Westcliffe, CO. His spots are subtle and his coloring is very light, a most stunning lavender rose gray. At 127.2 follicles/square mm density, Pinktus is the densest alpaca biopsied by Ian Watt in the US. With a primary SD of 2.5 and secondary SD of 2.2, and fiber population differential of 3.5, he is also the most uniform. Baptiste’s dam, MTAR Quintessential by Camo, is a uniquely colored “merle” harlequin. She is the daughter of the world fleece champion in both multi and gray, BHAR Camoflage! Baptiste’s color and pattern runs deep! He could be one of those cornerstone dependable males in producing appaloosas and harlequins. We’re looking forward to testing our theory!

Cowboy’s dam, Promises in the Dark, is a medium fawn, conformationally correct female with fine, dense and bright fleece, sporting an excellent crimp style.
